Grammy-winning ‘Padam Padam: Lostboy Accepts the Coveted Award
Lostboy graciously accepted the award on behalf of himself, Minogue, and Massey during the ceremony. Despite its somewhat under-the-radar status in the United States, “Padam Padam” claimed the No. 7 spot on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic chart while securing a No. 1 position as a pop hit in the United Kingdom, solidifying its status as the song of the summer.

In a pre-GRAMMY interview with GRAMMY.com, Kylie Minogue expressed gratitude for her strong connection with LGBTQ+ fans, acknowledging its significance to her. “It’s hugely important to me and so touching,” she said. “I hope that for that community and beyond, I just want to say I am open-minded, and I want people to be happy in themselves. That community needed support and still needs support. I’m here. And they padamed for me.”
When asked about her initial reaction upon hearing the demo of “Padam Padam,” Minogue spoke of an overwhelming sense of love. “Absolutely loved,” she emphasized. Recalling the specific moment, she said, “I know where I was, where I was sitting, and what I was doing. I was getting glammed up for something in Miami.” Describing the anticipation of listening to external songs, she noted, “It’s always an exciting moment. My A&R sends me something and says, ‘Hey, what do you think of this?’ I have no idea what to expect. In that moment, there’s before and after, if it’s a good moment.”

Minogue found the title intriguing from the start, and her immediate connection to the song only deepened upon further listening. Despite not grasping every lyric initially, she appreciated its cleverness. “I couldn’t understand every lyric,” she shared, “so I listened again, and I thought it was clever.”
